Mavis Hawa Koomson (born 3 February 1966) is a Ghanaian people, Ghanaian politician and educationist who served as a Member of the sixth, seventh and eighth Parliaments of the fourth republic of Ghana representing the Awutu-Senya East (Ghana parliament constituency), Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region (Ghana), Central region on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, New Patriotic party (NPP). She was appointed by President of Ghana Nana Akuffo-Addo on 10 January 2017 as Minister of Special Development Initiatives. Mavis Hawa Koomson advocates for women's empowerment, education, and healthcare. She has also been involved in initiatives to promote fisheries and aquaculture development in Ghana. General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2024 to elect the president and all 276 members of Parliament. The incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo, having completed his constitutional term limits, was ineligible for re-election. United Progressive Party (Ghana)
The United Progressive Party is a political party in Ghana. Its founders were Akwasi Addai Odike and Dean Djokoto. It received its final certificate of registration from the Electoral Commission of Ghana in May 2015. The party contested the 2016 Ghanaian general election but failed to win a single seat.
