Maurie Young
Maurice Albert Young (7 March 1937 – 13 February 2023) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn. Young developed into a strong ruckman. He played 71 senior games for Hawthorn between 1956 and 1960. He also played the Hawks' VFL finals campaign in 1957. In 1961, Maurice moved to Western Australia, and played with East Perth. He played in the losing East Perth's 1961 Grand Final side. Two years later he returned to Melbourne to be closer to family. Not required at Hawthorn Young spent 1963 playing for Oakleigh in the VFA. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Hawthorn Football Club, nicknamed the Hawks, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Mulgrave, Victoria, that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL). The club was founded in 1902 in the inner-east suburb of Hawthorn, making it the youngest Victorian-based team in the AFL. The East Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Royals, is an Australian rules football club based in Leederville, Western Australia, current playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Formed in 1902 as the Union Football Club, the club entered the WAFL in 1906, changing its name to East Perth. It won its first premiership in 1919, part of a streak of five consecutive premierships. Oakleigh Football Club, nicknamed the Devils, was an Australian rules football club from Oakleigh, Victoria, Oakleigh which played in the Victorian Football Association, VFA from 1929 until 1994. Moe ( ) is a town in the Latrobe Valley in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia. The Eaglehawk Football Netball Club is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Eaglehawk, Victoria and have competed in every BFL season since the league began in 1880, with the exception of 1904. Eaglehawk teams currently compete in the Bendigo Football Netball League (BFNL). Eaglehawk drew level with Sandhurst in 2007 when they won their 26th premiership. Garry Young (footballer)
Garry Young (born 10 July 1939) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Hawthorn in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A key position forward, Young topped Hawthorn's goalkicking in 1959 and 1960 and was a premiership player in 1961.
