Maurice Patrick Finnerty
Maurice Patrick Finnerty (June 19, 1913 – June 11, 1977) was a radio station owner and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Similkameen in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1949 to 1952 as a Liberal. Finnerty was mayor of Penticton from 1962 to 1967. He was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, the son of Patrick J. Finnerty and Clara Collins. During World War II, Finnerty served with the Seaforth Highlanders. In 1942, he married Lesley Merle Armstrong. Finnerty owned an insurance business. He served in the provincial assembly as a member of a Liberal-Conservative coalition. Finnerty was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1952. CKGF-2-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts an English-language commercial active rock format at 102.3 MHz ( FM) in Grand Forks, British Columbia. The station is currently owned by Vista Broadcast Group. History Okanagan Radio Limited (with headquarters in Penticton) originally launched CKGF at 1340 kHz ( AM) in Grand Forks in June 1969. The call letters "GF" stood for Grand Forks. In 1984, CKGF received CRTC approval to add new FM transmitters in Christina Lake, Greenwood and Rock Creek. The rebroadcast transmitters were on the air by the late 1980s. Around that time, CKGF began operating as a semi-satellite of CJAT in Trail. In 1993, CKGF began simulcasting programs of CKQR Castlegar. CJOR (1240 AM broadcasting, AM, ''1240 Summit'') is a radio station in Osoyoos, British Columbia. Owned by Vista Radio, it broadcasts an adult hits format. The station operates an FM broadcasting, FM rebroadcaster on 102.9 Hertz, MHz as CJOR-FM in Oliver, British Columbia, Oliver. Similkameen was the name of a provincial electoral district in the Canadian province of British Columbia formed around the historic mining district of the same name. It made its first appearance on the hustings in the election of 1903.
