Matías Ramón Mella
Matías Ramón Mella Castillo (25 February 1816 – 4 June 1864), commonly known as Ramón Mella, was a Dominican revolutionary, politician, and military general. He was a central figure in proclaiming the First Dominican Republic and advancing the cause of Dominican independence. Recognized as one of the three Founding Fathers of the Dominican Republic, he is commemorated in the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez, and Mella, which includes his name. Mella joined the independence movement and collaborated closely with Juan Pablo Duarte and Francisco del Rosario Sánchez to promote a vision of a sovereign Dominican Republic. Mella contributed significantly to the establishment of the Dominican Republic, initiating the Dominican War of Independence. However, internal political disputes soon arose among former allies. His Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style (manner of address), style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office and is held only during tenure of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops, high-ranking ecclesiastics, and others holding equivalent rank, such as heads of international organizations. Members of royal families generally have distinct addresses such as Majesty, Highness, etc.. While not a title of office itself, the honorific ''Excellency'' precedes various titles held by the holder, both in speech and in writing.
