''Maattoly'' is a 1978 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by A. Bhimsingh and starring M. G. Soman, Sharada, Sukumari, Jayabharathi, and Jagannatha Varma. It is a remake of the 1972 Hindi film ''Dushmun''. The film was released on 25 April 1978. Plot Raghu, an alcoholic truck driver, accidentally kills a man while driving. Despite having an opportunity to escape, he decides to surrender. The judge Joseph, instead of sending Raghu to prison, assigns him to support the deceased man's family for two years. Jayabharathi
Jayabharathi is an Indian actress. She is a two-time recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for best actress. Jayabharathi's first leading role was given by director P. Bhaskaran for his movie Kattukurangu in 1969. Later she became one of the most successful Malayalam film actresses and performed with such notable leading men as Prem Nazir, Madhu, Vincent, Jayan, M. G. Soman, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth. Jayabharathi-MG Soman was a popular on-screen pair of the 1970s and early 1980s. Jagannatha Varma
K. N. Jagannatha Varma (1 May 1939 – 20 December 2016) was an Indian actor who worked in Malayalam film and television industry. He was also a Kathakali artist. His son Manu Varma is also an artist and his son-in-law Viji Thampi is a film director. He acted in a number of Malayalam movies performing stereotypical roles of a senior police officer, judge or a priest. Some of his noted roles were in movies ''New Delhi'' (1987), Thanthram (1988), '' Lelam'' (1997) and '' Pathram'' (1999), all directed by Joshiy. Varma joined the Kerala Police Force in 1963, before getting active in movies. He retired from the Kerala Police as the Superintendent of Police. Family Malayalam movie director Viji Thampi is his Son-in-law. His last film was ' Dolls', released in 2013. B. Sivasankaran Nair, popularly known as Bichu Thirumala (13 February 1942 – 26 November 2021), was an Indian lyricist and poet. He is known for creating the style of arranging beautiful words in Malayalam film songs. In Malayalam cinema, Bichu Thirumala led the group of lyricists who wrote songs for readymade tunes.
