Matthias Müller (orienteer)
Matthias Müller (born 12 September 1982) is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He participated in the 2009 World Orienteering Championships in Miskolc, where he placed 7th in the Sprint and 4th in the Middle Distance events. He won a gold medal in the Relay with the Swiss team at the 2010 European Orienteering Championships in Primorsko. World Orienteering Championships
The World Orienteering Championships (or WOC for short) is an annual orienteering event organized by the International Orienteering Federation. The first World Championships was held in Fiskars, Finland in 1966. They were held biennially up to 2003 (with the exception of 1978 and 1979). Since 2003, competitions have been held annually. Participating nations have to be members of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF). Originally, there were only two competitions: an individual race and a relay. In 1991, a short distance race (roughly 20–25 minutes) was added and a sprint race was added in 2001. The middle distance (roughly 30–35 minutes) replaced the short distance in 2003. Primorsko
Primorsko ( bg, Приморско ) is a town and seaside resort in southeastern Bulgaria, capital of homonymous municipality, part of Burgas Province. A well-known resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, it is located 52 km south of Burgas and has a beach strip of about 1 km2. The average temperature is 29 °C in July, often reaching 30-33 °C and making Primorsko a favourable place for tourism. Seawater temperature in July and August is 27-28 °C. Primorsko enjoys more than 2,300 sunshine hours a year, mostly in summertime. The rivers Ropotamo and Dyavolska reka run close to the town. Male (symbol: ♂) is the sex of an organism that produces the gamete (sex cell) known as sperm, which fuses with the larger female gamete, or ovum, in the process of fertilization. A male organism cannot reproduce sexually without access to at least one ovum from a female, but some organisms can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Orienteering
Orienteering is a group of sports that require navigational skills using a map and compass to navigate from point to point in diverse and usually unfamiliar terrain whilst moving at speed. Participants are given a topographical map, usually a specially prepared orienteering map, which they use to find control points. Originally a training exercise in land navigation for military officers, orienteering has developed many variations. Among these, the oldest and the most popular is foot orienteering. 2009 World Orienteering Championships
The 2009 World Orienteering Championships, the 26th World Orienteering Championships, were held in Miskolc, Hungary, 16 –23 August 2009. The championships had eight events; sprint for men and women, middle distance for men and women, long distance (formerly called individual or classic distance) for men and women, and relays for men and women.
