Matthew J. Schneider
Matthew J. Schneider is an American attorney who served as the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan from 2018 to 2021. In 2021, he joined the law firm Honigman LLP as a partner. Biography He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University's James Madison College and his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School. Schneider was a Senior Advisor and Assistant General Counsel in the Office of Management and Budget and an associate at Wiley Rein. From 2003 to 2011, he served as an Assistant United States Attorney in Detroit, where he prosecuted violent crime and public corruption cases. He has also served as Chief of Staff and General Counsel for the Michigan Supreme Court. United States attorneys are officials of the U.S. Department of Justice who serve as the chief federal law enforcement officers in each of the 94 U.S. federal judicial districts. Each U.S. attorney serves as the United States' chief federal criminal prosecutor in their judicial district and represents the U.S. federal government in civil litigation in federal and state court within their geographic jurisdiction. Voice Vote
In parliamentary procedure, a voice vote (from the Latin ''viva voce'', meaning "by live voice") or acclamation is a voting method in deliberative assemblies (such as legislatures) in which a group vote is taken on a topic or motion by responding vocally. Despite not being the same thing, voice votes and votes by viva voce are often confused because they have the same Latin roots. Voice votes gather the vocal response of the full assembly at once whereas viva voce are often done by roll call and record the response and name of the individual voters. The voice vote is considered the simplest and quickest of voting methods used by deliberative assemblies. The presiding officer or chair of the assembly will put the question to the assembly, asking first for all those in favor of the motion to indicate so orally ("aye" or "yea"), and then ask second all those opposed to the motion to indicate so verbally ("no" or "nay"). Saline ( ') is a city in Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,948 at the 2020 census. The city borders Saline Township to the southwest, and the two are administered autonomously. History Before the 18th century, Native Americans traveled to what is now Saline to hunt wildlife and gather salt from the salt springs they found nearby. In the 18th century, French explorers canoed up to the area and also harvested the salt. They named the local river ''Saline'' ("salty"). Europeans settled the area in the 19th century, most of them from England and Germany.
