Matthew George Darby, (born 27 August 1967) is a British conservationist and former publisher. He is the son of Adrian Darby and Lady Meriel Darby, daughter of former British Prime Minister, Sir Alec Douglas-Home Alexander Frederick Douglas-Home, Baron Home of the Hirsel (; 2 July 1903 – 9 October 1995), styled as Lord Dunglass between 1918 and 1951 and being The 14th Earl of Home from 1951 till 1963, was a British Conservative politician who se ... Adrian Darby
Adrian Marten George Darby, (born 25 September 1937) is a British conservationist and academic. Academic and conservation career Darby served as a fellow and tutor in economics at Keble College, University of Oxford (1963–1985), and visiting lecturer in environmental economics at the University of Pennsylvania in 1978. He subsequently served as chairman of Europe's largest nature conservation organization the RSPB (1986–1993), and became vice-president from 1996 onwards. He founded the Kemerton Conservation Trust in 1989. Darby was chairman of Plantlife International 1994–2002, and president from 2005 onwards. He was chairman of Planta Europa 1998–2004. Alexander Frederick Douglas-Home, Baron Home of the Hirsel (; 2 July 1903 – 9 October 1995), styled as Lord Dunglass between 1918 and 1951 and being The 14th Earl of Home from 1951 till 1963, was a British Conservative politician who served as Prime Minister from October 1963 to October 1964. He is notable for being the last Prime Minister to hold office while being a member of the House of Lords, before renouncing his peerage and taking up a seat in the House of Commons for the remainder of his premiership. ''The Pocket Canons'' is the name of a series of small books, designed by Pentagram Partner, Angus Hyland, featuring the text of individual Books of the Bible along with introductions by various well-known authors and public figures, including the Dalai Lama and Bono. D&AD
Design and Art Direction (D&AD), formerly known as British Design and Art Direction, is a British educational organisation that was created in 1962 to promote excellence in design and advertising. Its main offices are in Spitalfields in London. It is most famous for its annual awards, the D&AD Pencils. The highest award given by D&AD, the Black Pencil, is not necessarily awarded every year. History Origins (1962–1977) D&AD was founded in 1962 by a group of London-based designers and art directors including David Bailey, Terence Donovan, Alan Fletcher, and Colin Forbes (who designed the original D&AD logo).
