Matt Turner (soccer)
Matthew Charles Turner (born June 24, 1994) is an American professional Association football, soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper for Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais, Lyon, and the United States men's national soccer team, United States national team. Not playing soccer until 14 years old, Turner played for Fairfield University and went undrafted in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, though signed with Major League Soccer club New England Revolution after a successful preseason trial. After 2 seasons he became the club's primary goalkeeper, later winning the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award, MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2021 Major League Soccer season#End-of-season awards, 2021. Richmond Kickers is an American professional soccer club based in Richmond, Virginia. The Kickers compete as a member of USL League One (USL1). The club was established in 1993, and began play that same year as a United States Interregional Soccer League (now USL League Two) expansion team, which at the time, was the fourth tier of soccer in the United States. The 2024–25 FA Cup was the 144th season of the Football Association Challenge Cup, the oldest football tournament in the world. The 2021 Major League Soccer season was the 26th season of Major League Soccer (MLS), the top professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. The 2021 season included the addition of Austin FC as an expansion club, which took the league to 27 teams. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the season was originally scheduled to begin on April 3, as opposed to the normal late February or early March start.
