Matt Thaiss
Matthew Kevin Thaiss (born May 6, 1995) is an American professional baseball catcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2019. Amateur career Thaiss attended Jackson Memorial High School in Jackson Township, New Jersey. During his career he batted .343 with 17 home runs and 70 runs batted in (RBI). He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 32nd round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign and attended the University of Virginia where he played for the Virginia Cavaliers. As a freshman at Virginia in 2014, Thaiss played in 26 games with 16 starts at designated hitter. In 68 at-bats he hit .265 with seven RBIs. As a sophomore in 2015, Thaiss started 67 of 68 games, batting .323/.413/.552 with ten home runs and 64 RBIs. Salt Lake Bees
The Salt Lake Bees are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. They are located in Salt Lake City, Utah, and play their home games at Smith's Ballpark. The ballpark opened in 1994 and has a seating capacity of 15,411, the largest in their league. The team was previously known as the Salt Lake Buzz (1994–2000) and Salt Lake Stingers (2001–2005) before adopting their Bees moniker in 2006. Virginia Cavaliers Baseball
The Virginia Cavaliers baseball team represents the University of Virginia in NCAA Division I college baseball. Established in 1889, the team participates in the Coastal division of the Atlantic Coast Conference and plays its home games at Davenport Field. The team's head coach is Brian O'Connor. The team has played in the College World Series five times, most recently in 2021, and won the national championship in 2015.
