Matt Simpson is an American politician. A Republican, he is currently serving in the New York State Assembly, representing the 114th district, which encompasses part of Essex and Warren counties, and portions of Saratoga and Washington counties. He assumed office on January 6, 2021. Early life, education, and career Simpson grew up in Bolton, New York. His father was a teacher and his mother was a nurse at Glens Falls Hospital. He graduated from Hoosic Valley High School in 1985, and started his own dry wall company, working as a business owner for more than 30 years. Political career Simpson served on the Horicon, New York Town Board for two years before being running unopposed and being elected supervisor of the town. He also served as president of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages. The Serve America Movement (SAM) was a big tent political organization founded in 2017 by Morgan Stanley attorney Eric Grossman. The party achieved its first state party in New York with ballot access, but as of November 4, 2021, it lost its ballot status. Under New York election law, parties must get more than 130,000 votes every two years to maintain ballot access. Party officials said afterward they intended to surpass the state elections vote requirement and use petitions to gain ballot access in other states, in order to contest future elections. Glens Falls Hospital is a 410-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in Glens Falls, New York. It serves the communities in Warren, Washington, Hamilton, Essex and northern Saratoga and Rensselaer counties. The hospital operates 28 off-campus health care facilities throughout the region.
