Thrapston
Thrapston is a market town and civil parish in the North Northamptonshire unitary authority area of Northamptonshire, England. It was the headquarters of the former East Northamptonshire district, and at the time of the 2021 census, had a population of 7,238. The town's name means 'Farmstead or town of a man named Thraepst'. Another source suggests the individual name is related with Old Germanic 'Trapsta', 'Trafstila' and 'thrafstjan' meaning 'to comfort:, henceforth 'farmstead or town of a man named Draefst or Draepst'. Thrapston is situated close to the River Nene, where the pronunciation changes from nene to neen and is at the junction of the A14 and the A45. Until the 1960s, Thrapston had two railway stations. Frickley is a village in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England in the civil parish of Clayton with Frickley. It lies close to the border with West Yorkshire. Local landmarks All Saints Church Frickley All Saints Church is situated about from the main village in the middle of a field, accessed by a lane from the road. The reason for this unusual site stems back to plague times, when Frickley village was effectively burnt to the ground and re-sited on the top of the hill following a plague epidemic. The only proof that the village was ever anywhere else is the oddly sited church. Being the only stone building of the time, it was left where it was, and survives to this day as an active place of worship in the Parish of Bilham.
