Matt Carey
Matthew Carey (born February 28, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward. He is currently on the Norfolk Admirals in the ECHL. He has previously played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Chicago Blackhawks. Playing career Upon completion of his freshman season with St. Lawrence University in the ECAC, Carey signed as an undrafted free agent to a two-year entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on March 20, 2014. On March 28, 2014, Carey made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in the 2013–14 season, in a 5–3 loss to the Ottawa Senators. In his debut game, Carey registered 2 penalty minutes, and ended the night with a minus-1 rating. Carey scored his first NHL goal on April 12, 2014 against Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators. Iowa Wild
The Iowa Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in Des Moines, Iowa. They are the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Wild play their home games at Wells Fargo Arena. The team was formerly the Houston Aeros, in Houston, Texas, before being relocated to Des Moines, beginning with the 2013–14 AHL season as the Iowa Wild. Plus–minus (sports)
Plus−minus (+/−, ±, plus/minus) is a sports statistic used to measure a player's impact, represented by the difference between their team's total scoring versus their opponent's when the player is in the game. Ice hockey In ice hockey, the plus–minus measures a player's goal differential. When a team that is at even-strength or shorthanded scores a goal, all players on the ice on the scoring team will register a plus while all players on the conceding team on the ice will register a minus. When a goal is scored by a team on the power play, no plus or minus points are awarded to either team. Empty net situations are treated the same as even-strength unless the team that scores is on the power play. Penalty shot goals are excluded. Löwen Frankfurt
The Löwen Frankfurt (English: ''Frankfurt Lions'') are a professional ice hockey team based in Frankfurt, Hesse, Germany. They currently play in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. The club is the successor of the Frankfurt Lions, formed in 1991, which experienced its greatest success in 2004 when it won the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. When the Lions folded in 2010 after having had their licence revoked by the DEL a new club was formed, the Löwen Frankfurt, which began play in the lower divisions of German ice hockey. The new club won promotion to the second-tier DEL2 in 2014, and to the DEL itself in 2022. The Löwen play in the ice rink on Ratsweg. The Deutsche Eishockey Liga (for sponsorship reasons called Penny (supermarket), PENNY Deutsche Eishockey Liga) (; English: ''German Ice Hockey League'') or DEL, is a professional ice hockey league in Germany and the highest division in German ice hockey. Karlskrona HK is a Swedish ice hockey club located in Karlskrona, Sweden, established in 2001. The Grand Rapids Griffins are a professional ice hockey team based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They compete in the American Hockey League (AHL), playing their home games at Van Andel Arena. Calder Cup
The Calder Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the playoff champions of the American Hockey League (AHL). It was first presented in 1937 to the Syracuse Stars. The cup is made of sterling silver mounted on a base of Brazilian mahogany. In its current shape, the trophy has a two-tiered square base with commemorative plaques for each of the AHL's 20 most recent champions: 12 on the bottom tier and 8 on the top tier. Each time a new championship plaque is added, the oldest plaque is retired and joins a display at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. The 2016–17 AHL season was the 81st season of the American Hockey League. The regular season began on October 14, 2016, and ended on April 15, 2017. The 2017 Calder Cup playoffs began on April 20, 2017. The Hartford Wolf Pack are a professional ice hockey team based in Hartford, Connecticut. A member of the American Hockey League (AHL), they play their home games at the PeoplesBank Arena. The team was established in 1926 as the Providence Reds. After a series of relocations, the team moved to Hartford in 1997 as the Hartford Wolf Pack.
