Matt Cardone
Matt Cardone (born June 18, 1993) is an American former soccer player who played for San Antonio FC in the USL Championship. Early life and education Cardone was born in San Antonio, Texas. He played college soccer at Trinity University between 2011 and 2014, where he was twice named All-America. Professional career After a trial with Major League Soccer's Orlando City SC, Cardone signed with North American Soccer League side San Antonio Scorpions on April 17, 2015. The club ceased operations in December 2015. Then on February 4, 2016 Cardone was signed by the United Soccer League's newest franchise, San Antonio FC. United Soccer League
United Soccer League (USL), formerly known as United Soccer Leagues, is a soccer league in the United States and Canada. It organizes several men's and women's leagues, both professional and amateur. Men's leagues currently organized are the USL Championship, USL League One, USL League Two, and the youth Super Y League. A new women's league, the USL W League, began play in 2022. Charleston Battery
The Charleston Battery are an American professional association football, soccer club based in Charleston, South Carolina, and member of the USL Championship. Founded in 1993, the Battery are one of the oldest continuously operating professional soccer clubs in the United States, tied with the Richmond Kickers. Charleston are one of the more successful lower division soccer clubs in the United States, having won the USISL Pro League in 1996, the USL A-League in 2003, and the final season of the USL Second Division in 2010. North American Soccer League (2011–2017)
The North American Soccer League (NASL) was a professional men's soccer league based in the United States. The league was named for, but had no connection to, the original North American Soccer League. The later NASL was founded in 2009, and began play in 2011 with eight teams. From 2013 through 2017, the NASL used a split-season schedule running from April to early November, with a four-week break in July. The spring and fall champions, along with the two teams with best combined spring/fall records met in a four-team single-elimination tournament known as ''The Championship''. The winner of the final claimed the Soccer Bowl trophy.
