Matilda Wallace
Matilda Wallace (November 1838 - 21 January 1898 ), was a 19th century pioneer Australian Pastoralism, pastoralist. Born in High Ham, Somerset, England to Sarah and George Hill, she emigrated to Australia aboard the ''North'', a 1,238-ton sailing ship, departing Liverpool on October 31, 1858, joining members of her family in Coromandel Valley, in the Colony of South Australia. She was a twenty-year old (dairy maid) sponsored by brother, Robert Hill. Wallace and her husband Abraham Wallace, Abraham were for many years frontier sheep and cattle farmers, which she documented in a memoir. Sheep and cattle farming In 1863, Matilda and her husband, Abraham Wallace, departed from Mount Gambier with a wagon, two horses, bedding, and provisions to search for land in Queensland. Cobham Lake, when full, covers an area of around and is located in New South Wales, Australia. Milparinka is a small settlement in north-west New South Wales, Australia, about north of Broken Hill on the Silver City Highway. The ''South Eastern Times'' is a newspaper established in Millicent, South Australia in 1891, advertised on its masthead as covering the area which includes Millicent, Robe, Beachport, Tantanoola, Kalangadoo and Southend. After 129 years of publishing, however, the newspaper (along with sister publication ''The Pennant'') was discontinued on 21 August 2020. Elsey Station
Elsey Station is a pastoral lease that once operated as a cattle station in the Northern Territory of Australia. Its traditional owners are the Mangarrayi people, whose rights were upheld by the Elsey Land Claim granted in 1997. The property is owned by the Mangarrayi Aboriginal Land Trust. The station is situated about east of Mataranka and north of Larrimah and the Roper River, and many of its tributary creeks run through the property. The land is about 10% flood plain, 15% black soil country, 60% red sandy country and 15% ridge country. It occupies an area of , of which is fenced.
