Mathias Middelberg
Mathias Middelberg (born 14 December 1964) is a German lawyer and politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Lower Saxony since 2009. Early career From 1997 until 2000, Middelberg served as chief of staff to the State Minister for Economic Affairs of Bremen, Josef Hattig. Political career Middelberg first became a member of the Bundestag in the 2009 German federal election. He was a member of the Finance Committee before joining the Committee for Home Affairs from 2018 until 2021. He has since been serving as his parliamentary group's spokesperson on home affairs. The New Synagogue (german: Neue Synagoge) on Oranienburger Straße in Berlin is a mid-19th century synagogue built as the main place of worship for Berlin's Jewish community, succeeding the Old Synagogue which the community outgrew. The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (german: Denkmal für die ermordeten Juden Europas), also known as the Holocaust Memorial (German: ''Holocaust-Mahnmal''), is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust, designed by architect Peter Eisenman and Buro Happold.
