Mateusz Rudkowski
Mateusz (or Mieczysław) Rudkowski (also uk, Матвій Рудковський; c. 1809 — c. 1887) was a Polish composer of choral and piano music. He received his musical education in Lviv and Vienna. In 1850-1860 he was kapellmeister of the choir of Greek Catholic seminary in Lviv, and directed the Ukrainian choir of Stauropegion Institute. Rudkowski was a member of the Galician Music Society in Lviv, and taught its members choral and especially church singing. Some of his compositions were published at his own expense and by Żupański in Poznań, and others by Wild and Kallenbach in Lviv. He composed a mass performed in Lviv in 1855 or 1856. Stauropegion Institute
The Stauropegion Institute was one of the most important cultural and educational institutions in Galicia (today western Ukraine) from the end of the 18th century until World War II. For much of its history it was controlled by Galician Russophiles. Adam Bernard Mickiewicz (; 24 December 179826 November 1855) was a Polish poet, dramatist, essayist, publicist, translator and political activist. He is regarded as national poet in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus. Peter Von Winter
Peter Winter, later Peter von Winter, (baptised 28 August 1754 – 17 October 1825) was a German violinist, conductor and composer, especially of operas. He began his career as a player at the Mannheim court, and advanced to conductor. When the court moved to Munich, he followed and later became kapellmeister of the opera there. His opera '' Das Labyrinth'', a sequel to Mozart's ''Die Zauberflöte'', was premiered in Vienna in 1798, and his '' Maometto'' at La Scala in Milan in 1817. His work has been regarded as a bridge between Mozart and Weber in the development of German opera. Career Winter was born in Mannheim. He was a child prodigy on the violin, who occasionally played in the Mannheim court orchestra, from age ten, both violin and double bass. Karol Józef Teofil Estreicher (22 November 1827 in Kraków – 30 September 1908 in Kraków) was a Polish bibliographer and librarian who was a founder of the Polish Academy of Learning. While he is known as the "father of Polish bibliography", he is also considered the founder of the bibliographical method in literary research. His "monumental work", ' is called the "most outstanding bibliography of Polish books, and probably one of the most famous bibliographies in the world". After completing university studies in philosophy and law, he worked in the judiciary in Kraków and Lviv, where bibliography became his passion.
