The Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (, TS–LKD), also colloquially known as the Conservatives (), is a centre-right political party in Lithuania. It has 18,000 members and 28 of 141 seats in the Seimas. Its current leader is Laurynas Kasčiūnas following the resignation of Gabrielius Landsbergis in 2024 after the party's loss in the recent election. Aušra Maldeikienė
Aušra Seibutytė-Maldeikienė (born 4 June 1958) is a Lithuanian political economist, politician, lecturer, teacher, publicist and book author. In 2019 she was elected to the European Parliament, having previously sat as a member of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) since 2016 and Vilnius City Council (2015–2016). Biography After graduating from Antanas Vienuolis Secondary School (currently Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium) in Vilnius in 1976, Aušra Maldeikienė studied in the Faculty of Finance and Credit at the Vilnius University (then named Vilnius Order of the Red Banner of Labour State University of Vincas Kapsukas) and continued the studies in the Economics Faculty at the Lomonosov Moscow State University. She graduated from the latter in 1982, obtaining a qualification of Economist and Lecturer in Political Economy. Eugenijus Maldeikis
Eugenijus Maldeikis (born 27 August 1958, in Anykščiai) is a Lithuanian politician. Maldeikis served twice as Lithuanian Minister of Economy, during Paksas Cabinet I in 1999, and as part of Paksas Cabinet II from 2000 to 2001. His second stint as economics minister overlapped with his tenure on the Eighth Seimas of Lithuania which began in 2000. From 2003, the Seimas appointed Maldeikis a Lithuanian observer to the European Union. After the death of Rolandas Pavilionis, Maldeikis replaced him as a member of the European Parliament from 18 May 2006 until 2009. While serving on the European Parliament, Maldeikis represented the Lithuanian Liberal Democratic Party within the Union for Europe of the Nations parliamentary group. A homeland is a place where a national or ethnic identity has formed. The definition can also mean simply one's country of birth. When used as a proper noun, the Homeland, as well as its equivalents in other languages, often has ethnic nationalist connotations.
