Masterminds (quiz Bowl)
MasterMinds is an academic quiz bowl program active in Upstate New York. There are currently four regions with associated leagues: Albany, New York, Albany, Buffalo, New York, Buffalo, Rochester, New York, Rochester, and Syracuse University, Syracuse. Some games in the Albany and Rochester regions are broadcast on public-access television. History MasterMinds was founded by CYPRAS in 1993. The first season consisted of schools in the Rochester area. MasterMinds later expanded to schools in Buffalo (1995), Albany (1999), and Syracuse (2003). Rules General MasterMinds uses National Academic Quiz Tournaments, NAQT questions. Two teams of up to four players face off answering questions on a wide variety of topics including literature, history, science, visual and auditory arts, philosophy, social science, geography, current events, and popular culture. Quiz Bowl
Quiz bowl (quizbowl, scholars' bowl, scholastic bowl, academic bowl, academic team, academic challenge, etc.) is a family of quiz-based competitions that test players on Outline of academic disciplines, a wide variety of academic subjects. Standardized quiz bowl formats are played by primary school, middle school, Secondary school, high school, and university students throughout North America, Asia, Europe, Australia, and Africa. Quiz bowl competitions are typically played with a lockout buzzer system between at least two teams, usually consisting of four players each. A moderator reads questions to the players, who try to Score (game), score points for their team by buzzing first and responding with the correct answer. Quiz bowl is most commonly played in a tossup/bonus format, which consists of a series of two different types of questions. Brockport High School is a High School located in Sweden, New York on the west side of Monroe County, USA. The current principal is Michael Pincelli. Orchard Park High School
Orchard Park High School is a secondary school in Orchard Park, New York. The school has approximately 1725 children in grades 9–12. The students are divided among three houses with a principal for each house and a principal who oversees the entire school. History and Description of Campus The main portion of the current high school building was completed in 1960 and served until 1976 as the junior high school. In 1976, a large addition and renovation process doubled the size of the building, and it became the high school. The old junior high gym became the pool and the gym was added adjacent to it. Also built was a three-story classroom addition and an auditorium adjacent to the original building. (The former high school became a middle school, which currently houses grades 6–8.) Manlius Pebble Hill School
The Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) is a secular, coeducational, independent, pre-kindergarten, pre-K through 12 school in DeWitt, New York. The school is the result of a merger in 1970 between The Manlius School, founded in 1869, and the Pebble Hill School, established in 1926. MPH marked its 150th anniversary in 2019. Hilton High School is part of the student Hilton Central School District, a public school system based in Hilton, a suburb of Rochester, New York. Victor Senior High School is a public high school located in Victor, New York, and is part of the encompassing Victor Central School District. Nichols School is a private, non-denominational, co-educational college-University-preparatory school, preparatory day school in Buffalo, New York, United States. City Honors School at Fosdick-Masten Park, known colloquially as City Honors, or CHS, is a college preparatory school in Buffalo, New York, Buffalo, New York (state), New York, United States.
