Massey Drive
Massey Drive (2021 pop.: 1,606) is a town located close to the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Its name is derived from the original road through the town, named Massey Drive, which in turn is named after Vincent Massey, former Governor General of Canada (1952–59). It is an enclave surrounded by the municipality of Corner Brook, from which it seceded in 1971. It is primarily a residential area. Vincent Massey
Charles Vincent Massey (February 20, 1887December 30, 1967) was a Canadian diplomat and statesman who served as the 18th governor general of Canada from 1952 to 1959. Massey was the first governor general of Canada who was born in Canada. Massey was born into an influential Toronto family and was educated in Ontario and England, obtaining a degree in history and befriending future prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King while studying at the University of Oxford. He was commissioned into the military in 1917 for the remainder of the First World War and, after a brief stint in the Canadian Cabinet, began his diplomatic career, serving in envoys to the United States and United Kingdom. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canada, Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. Corner Brook ( 2021 population: 19,316 CA 29,762) is a city located on the west coast of the island of Newfoundland in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Corner Brook is the fifth largest settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador, and the largest outside the Avalon Peninsula.
