Masood Jan
Masood Jan is a blind cricketer from Pakistan. He was part of the Pakistani team during the inaugural edition of the 1998 Blind Cricket World Cup. He held the world record for the highest individual score by a blind cricketer in a 40 over blind cricket match with career best score of 262* and the record remained unbroken for 24 years before being finally breached by Australia's Steffan Nero who smashed 309* in June 2022. However, he still holds the record for the highest individual score ever by a blind cricketer in Blind Cricket World Cup history when he smashed 262 not out against South Africa at Roshanara Club on 19 November 1998. In the 1998 Blind cricket World Cup final, he scored 146 for Pakistan and in the end Pakistan lost the finals to South Africa. Cricketer
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. The Pakistan blind cricket team is the national blind cricket team of Pakistan. Running and organised by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council (PBCC) which is affiliated with the ''World Blind Cricket Council'' (WBCC). Blind Cricket
Blind cricket is a version of the sport of cricket adapted for blind and partially sighted players. It has been governed by the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) since 1996. So far, five Blind World Cups have been held: New Delhi, India (1998); Chennai, India (2002); Islamabad, Pakistan (2006), and India (2018). In 2012, the first Blind World Cup T20 was held in Bangalore, India. Blind cricket relies on common use of the 'sweep shot', in order to provide maximum chance of the bat hitting the ball. History Blind cricket was invented in Melbourne in 1922 by two blind factory workers who improvised the game using a tin can containing rocks. The Victorian Blind Cricket Association was founded shortly after, in 1922, and the first sports ground and clubhouse for blind cricket was built at Kooyong, Melbourne in 1928. Steffan Nero
Steffan Nero is an Australian visually impaired sportsperson who has represented his country in blind cricket, goalball, association football, and futsal. On 14 June 2022, he set the new world record for registering the highest ever individual score in the history of blind cricket with an unbeaten knock of 309 against New Zealand during the bilateral ODI series. The Pakistan national cricket team or Pak cricket team, often referred to as the Shaheens (), Green Shirts, Men in Green and Cornered Tigers is administered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The team is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council, and participates in Test, One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International cricket matches. Pakistan has played 449 Test matches, winning 146, losing 139 and drawing 164. Pakistan was given Test status on 28 July 1952 and made its Test debut against India at Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi in October 1952, with India winning by an innings and 70 runs.
