''Mascots'' (german: Mascottchen) is a 1929 German silent film directed by Felix Basch and starring Käthe von Nagy, Jeanne Helbling, and Muriel Angelus. Felix Basch
Felix Basch (1885–1944) was an American- Austrian actor, screenwriter and film director. He first acted in Vienna, and he was a producer and director for the German film production company U. F. A. Following the Nazi takeover of power in Germany in 1933, the Jewish Basch was forced out of films and went into exile, moving to the United States where he appeared in a large number of films acting in character roles. He was married to the actress and singer Grete Freund and was the father of Peter Basch. Richard Tauber was a second cousin of his . According to U.S. immigration entry records, he gained his American citizenship through his father. Basch died May 18, 1944, at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Hollywood, California, after several major operations. Curt Siodmak
Curt Siodmak (August 10, 1902 – September 2, 2000) was a German-American novelist and screenwriter. He is known for his work in the horror and science fiction film genres, with such films as '' The Wolf Man'' and '' Donovan's Brain'' (the latter adapted from his novel of the same name). He was the younger brother of noir director Robert Siodmak. Life and career Siodmak was born Kurt Siodmak in Dresden, Germany, the son of Rosa Philippine (née Blum) and Ignatz Siodmak. Kurt Vespermann (1 May 1887 – 13 July 1957) was a German stage and film actor. Career Vespermann was born into an actor's family in Culmsee, West Prussia, Imperial Germany today Chełmża, Poland. Already his great-grandparents were actors and directors at different operas and theatres. Vespermann began his career in 1913 at the Royal Schauspielhaus Berlin and first appeared in silent movies in 1915. Hans Philipp August Albers (22 September 1891 – 24 July 1960) was a German actor and singer. He was the biggest male movie star in Germany between 1930 and 1960 and one of the most popular German actors of the twentieth century. Early life Hans Albers was born in Hamburg, the son of a butcher, and grew up in the district of St. Georg. He was seriously interested in acting by his late teens and took acting classes without the knowledge of his parents.
