María de Estrada (c. 1475 or 1486 – between 1537–48) was a Spanish woman who was part of Hernán Cortés's expedition to Mexico between 1519 and 1524, in which she traveled as a conquistador and fought against the Aztec Empire. It's also purported that she had previously spent several years as a castaway among the indigenous peoples of pre-colonial Cuba. Background María de Estrada (the surname is given as Destrada or Estrada in some sources) was born in Seville, Spain, although her father came originally from northern Spain. Her brother, the conquistador Francisco de Estrada, had accompanied Christopher Columbus as a cabin boy, and when he returned to the New World to settle permanently in 1509, Maria probably travelled with him. Tetela Del Volcán
Tetela del Volcán or simply Tetela, is a town and municipal seat of the municipality of Tetela del Volcán in the Mexican state of Morelos. It is located on the slopes of the volcano Popocatépetl. . The city serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. It is notable for its sixteenth century Dominican ex-convent which together with a number of other early monasteries nearby in the area has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The municipality reported 20,698 inhabitants in the year 2015 census. Other towns in the municipality of Tetela del Volcán include Hueyapan, ''Xochicalco'' (not to be confused with the archeological site of the same name) and ''Tlamimilulpan''. The toponym ''Tetela'' comes from Nahuatl and means "place of rocks". The ''Volcán'' ("volcano") referred to is, of course, Popocatépetl.
