MarÃa Sumire
MarÃa Cleofé Sumire de Conde (born in an indigenous community in Canchis Province, Cusco Region) is a Peruvian politician. She belongs to the Union for Peru party and was a Congresswoman representing Cusco for the period 2006-2011 and was a candidate for the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize. Biography Sumire is the daughter of the founder of the Peasants' Federation of Cusco ''(Federación Departamental de Campesinos del Cusco)'', Eduardo Sumire, and was raised in the community of Collachapi (Layo district, Canas province, Cusco region). Her mother tongue is Quechua. Sumire is an experienced lawyer from Cusco, who has provided legal advice for the Farmer Federation of Cusco in its struggle for land and women's organisations. Martha Hildebrandt
Martha Luz Hildebrandt Pérez-Treviño (; 13 January 1925 – 8 December 2022) was a Peruvian linguist and Fujimorist politician. She was first elected to Congress in 1995 and, in 1999, she became the second woman to serve as President of the Congress of the Republic of Peru (following Martha Chávez's term in 1995–1996). Education In 1942, Hildebrandt studied education and literature simultaneously at the National University of San Marcos. In 1952, she studied Structural Linguistics at Northwestern University in Illinois, United States, and subsequently Descriptive Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma, also in the United States. Quechua Languages
Quechua (, ), also called (, 'people's language') in Southern Quechua, is an indigenous language family that originated in central Peru and thereafter spread to other countries of the Andes. Derived from a common ancestral " Proto-Quechua" language, it is today the most widely spoken pre-Columbian language family of the Americas, with the number of speakers estimated at 8–10 million speakers in 2004,Adelaar 2004, pp. 167–168, 255. and just under 7 million from the most recent census data available up to 2011.
