Marysa Baradji-Duchêne (born 17 October 1982) is a French épée fencer. Baradji-Duchêne won the silver medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after losing to China in the final. Fencing
Fencing is a combat sport that features sword fighting. It consists of three primary disciplines: Foil (fencing), foil, épée, and Sabre (fencing), sabre (also spelled ''saber''), each with its own blade and set of rules. Most competitive fencers specialise in one of these disciplines. The modern sport gained prominence near the end of the 19th century, evolving from historical European swordsmanship. The Italian school of swordsmanship, Italian school altered the Historical European martial arts, historical European martial art of classical fencing, and the French school of fencing, French school later refined that system. Scoring points in a fencing competition is done by making contact with the opponent with one's sword. Hajnalka Kiraly Picot
Hajnalka Kiraly-Picot (born March 2, 1971, in Veszprém) is a Hungarian-born French épée fencer. With Hungary she was three-time team World champion (1993, 1997, and 2002) and 2001 team European champion. With France, she won the team bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics as well as three team world titles (2005, 2007, and 2008). Career Kiraly began fencing at the age of 10 on a friend's suggestion. When she was 18 she joined Honvéd Budapest, the sports club of the Hungarian Defence Force. She won in 1991 the silver medal at the Junior World Championships in Istanbul. Two years she became a component of the national épée team along with Tímea Nagy, Ildikó Mincza-Nébald and Adrienn Hormay. She was selected for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, but only as a reserve. As such she did not live in the Olympic village and could not access the official ceremonies. Maureen Nisima
Maureen Nisima (born 30 July 1981 in Bondy, Seine-Saint-Denis) is a French épée fencing, fencer, who won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics alongside Laura Flessel-Colovic, Hajnalka Kiraly Picot and Sarah Daninthe. She won the silver medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after losing to China in the final. She accomplished this with her teammates Marysa Baradji-Duchene, Hajnalka Kiraly Picot and Laura Flessel-Colovic. She also won the gold medal at the 2010 World Fencing Championships in Paris, defeating Emese Szász of Hungary in the final. Laura Flessel-Colovic (born 6 November 1971) is a French politician and épée fencer who served as Minister of Sports from 2017 to 2018. Born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, she has won the most Olympic medals of any French sportswoman, with five. Before 2007, she was a member of the Levallois Sporting Club Escrime, and now works with Lagardère Paris Racing. She is married and has one daughter. She was France's flag-bearer at the 2012 Summer Olympics opening ceremony in London, which was her fifth and last Olympics. She was appointed Minister of Sports in the Philippe Government on 17 May 2017 and resigned on 4 September 2018. 2006 European Seniors Fencing Championship
The 2006 European Seniors Fencing Championship was held in İzmir, Turkey, between 4 July and 9 July 2006. The event, sanctioned by the European Fencing Confederation (EFC), was organized by the Turkish Fencing Federation (TEF). 382 senior fencers from 37 European countries competed in the championship's foil, épée, and sabre events. Russia was the most successful nation, followed by Hungary and Romania. This was the first time that the championship was hosted by Turkey. Venue İzmir is the third largest city of Turkey. The competitions took place in İzmir Halkapınar Sport Hall, a multi-purpose hall with a capacity of around 9,000 persons, completed in 2005.
