Mary Slack
Mary Slack (; born December 1943) is a South African businesswoman and philanthropist. The daughter of Harry Oppenheimer, she is a former chairperson of the Oppenheimer Memorial Trust and the former managing director of the Market Theatre. She is also active in horse racing and breeding and owns the Wilgerbosdrift stud farm in Piketberg, Western Cape. Biography Slack was educated at the Healthfield School, where she was head girl, and the Sorbonne University. She is one of two children of Anglo American magnate Harry Oppenheimer and his wife Bridget. Though her younger brother Nicky has a more prominent role in managing the family's business interests, she has equal voting rights with him and reportedly influenced the family's decision to sell De Beers to Anglo American in 2011. Dorkay House
Dorkay House is situated on Portion 168 of Farm Turnfontein at 5–7 Eloff Street, Johannesburg, South Africa. It was constructed in 1952 and was designed by architect Colman Segal (1923–1988). It takes its name from the original owner, Dora Kotzen. Design Originally built as factory for "cut-make-and-trim" men’s clothing, Dorkay House was planned to have large open plan workrooms. A three-storey building, it was constructed in reinforced concrete and has steel windows. Allen Kwela
Allen Kwela (September 10, 1936 in Chesterville, Durban – July 1, 2003) was a kwela and jazz guitarist from South Africa. He was raised around Durban where he herded cattle and learned music after making a tin guitar. He began in Kwela with Spokes Mashiyane, but later branched into jazz. His 2002 work ''The Broken Strings of Allen Kwela'' received award nominations for jazz. Ascot Racecourse is a dual-purpose British racecourse, located in Ascot, Berkshire, England, about 25 miles west of London. The Hollywoodbets Durban July Handicap is a South African Thoroughbred horse race held annually on the first Saturday of July since 1897 at Greyville Racecourse in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The Joel family of England was headed by three brothers, Jack, Woolf and Solomon, who made a fortune in diamond and gold mining in South Africa.
