Mary Hanna
Mary Hanna (née Sutherland) (born 1 December 1954) is an Australian equestrian. She has represented Australia at six Olympic Games in the equestrian discipline of dressage (Atlanta 1996 with Mosaic, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 with Limbo, London 2012 with Sancette, Rio 2016 with Boogie Woogie and Tokyo 2020 with Calanta). Personal Hanna was born on 1 December 1954 in Melbourne, Australia. She attended Macarthur State School in Victoria before going to high school at Presbyterian Ladies' College. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree. Her husband is Rob Hanna, Equestrian Australia chef d'equipe. Equestrian Hanna is an equestrian dressage competitor. She has been coached by Kyra Kyrklund and Clemens Dierks. Currently she is coached by Patrik Kittel. Her primary training base is in Gisborne, Victoria , Australia. Bill Roycroft
James William George Roycroft, OBE (17 March 1915 – 29 May 2011) was an Australian Olympic equestrian champion. He grew up on a dairy farm and learnt to ride horses there. After serving in the army in World War II, he moved with his family to a soldier's block in western Victoria near Camperdown, where he raised his three sons, all of whom went on to compete alongside their father in the Olympics. At his first Olympics, the 1960 Rome Games, he played a key role on the final day of the team three-day event, despite being thrown off his horse the day before, allowing Australia to win the gold medal in the competition. He went on to compete in four more Olympics from 1964 to 1976, winning bronze medals in team eventing at the 1968 Mexico City and 1976 Montreal Games. The individual dressage in equestrian at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held at National Equestrian Center from 10 - 15 August. The medals for the competition were presented by Syed Shahid Ali, Pakistan, member of the International Olympic Committee, and the gifts were presented by Maria Gretzer, FEI executive board member. Competition format The team and individual dressage competitions used the same results. Dressage had three phases, with the last being used only for the individual event. The first phase was the Grand Prix. Individuals advanced to the second phase, the Grand Prix Special, if they were on one of the top seven teams or were one of the top 11 remaining competitors. The top 18 competitors in the Grand Prix Special (ignoring Grand Prix scores) advanced to the final phase, the Grand Prix Freestyle.
