Mary Agnes Snively
Mary Agnes Snively (12 November 1847 – 26 September 1933) was a Canadian nurse, later named as the first President of the Canadian Society of Superintendents of Training Schools for Nurses. Work Mary Agnes Snively was born in St. Catharines, Canada West, to Martin Snively, born in Upper Canada, and Susan Copeland, born in Ireland. She was Lady Superintendent of Nurses at the Toronto General Hospital's School of Nursing from 1884 to 1910, where she established the first nursing student residence and a proper curriculum. The Province of Canada (or the United Province of Canada or the United Canadas) was a British colony in British North America from 1841 to 1867. Its formation reflected recommendations made by John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham, in the Report on the Affairs of British North America following the Rebellions of 1837–1838. Persons of National Historic Significance (National Historic People) () are people designated by the Canadian government as being nationally significant in the history of the country. Designations are made by the Minister of the Environment on the recommendation of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. Approximately 70 nominations are submitted to the board each year. A person is eligible to be listed 25 years after death, but Prime Ministers may be designated any time after death.
