Mary A. Reardon
Mary Agnes Reardon (1912–2002) was a Catholic liturgical artist; she was a painter, muralist, ''Looking Glass Reviews''. designer and illustrator of children's books. Reardon attended Radcliffe College and was a BFA graduate of the Yale School of Fine Arts (1939). She also studied in Mexico with artist David Alfaro Siquieros from whom she learned true fresco. She was the designer and painter of the "first true fresco in the United States" at St. John Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. Reardon painted murals for many religious institutions. Radcliffe College
Radcliffe College was a Women's colleges in the United States, women's Liberal arts colleges in the United States, liberal arts college in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that was founded in 1879. In 1999, it was fully incorporated into Harvard College. The college was named for the early Harvard benefactor Anne (Radcliffe) Mowlson, Anne Mowlson (née Radcliffe) and was one of the Seven Sisters (colleges), Seven Sisters colleges. For the first 70 years of its existence, Radcliffe conferred undergraduate and graduate degrees. Beginning in 1963, it awarded joint Harvard-Radcliffe diplomas to undergraduates. David Alfaro Siquieros
David Alfaro Siqueiros (born José de Jesús Alfaro Siqueiros; December 29, 1896 – January 6, 1974) was a Mexican social realist painter, best known for his large public murals using the latest in equipment, materials and technique. Along with Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco, he was one of the most famous of the "Mexican muralists". Siqueiros was a member of the Mexican Communist Party. Although he went to Spain to support the Spanish Republic against the forces of Francisco Franco with his art, he volunteered and served in frontline combat as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army of the Republic through 1938 before returning to Mexico City. In 1940, he led a failed assassination attempt on Leon Trotsky in which Trotsky's 14-year-old grandson was shot and American communist Robert Sheldon Harte was executed.
