Marwar Junction
Marwar Junction is a census town and tehsil headquarter in Pali district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. This is an important railway junction on Ahemdabad - Delhi mainline in Pali district . Ajmer-Ahmedabad meter gauge opened in 1881 under Rajasthan State Railway and Marwar Junction railway station became the junction on 24 June 1882 on opening of Marwar-Pali section for Jodhpur railway. Mavli-Marwar Junction metre gauge was opened in 1936. It is now on the broad gauge Delhi-Ahmedabad line. Marwar Junction is mentioned in Kipling's "The Man Who Would be King" where Peachy Carnahan tells Kipling to meet Daniel Dravot on the morning of the 24th as Dravot travels on the Bombay mail. Mavli is a town (Nagar Palika) in Udaipur district in Rajasthan, India. Pali is a city and capital division in Pali district in Indian state of Rajasthan. It is the administrative headquarters of Pali district. It is on the banks of the river Bandi and is south east of Jodhpur. History Pali (formerly known as Pallika and Palli) was a trade centre. Marwar Junction Railway Station
Marwar Junction railway station (station code MJ) is located in Pali district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It serves the census town at Marwar Junction. The railway station Marwar Junction railway station is at an elevation of and was assigned the code – MJ. History Rajputana State Railway extended the Delhi–Ajmer -wide metre-gauge line to Ahmeabad in 1881. It was converted to broad gauge in 1997. The Rajputana–Malwa Railway built the metre-gauge line from Marwar Junction to Pali in 1882. Later, this section was extended to Jodhpur and formed the Jodhpur Railway.
