Marvin Young (rapper)
Marvin Young (born May 10, 1967), better known by his stage name Young M.C., is an American rapper, singer and actor. He is best known for his 1989 hit " Bust a Move". His debut album '' Stone Cold Rhymin''' found international acclaim. Young has also appeared in film in acting roles and cameo appearances and has appeared in several television programs. Life and career Young was born in Wimbledon, London, to Jamaican immigrant parents. He left the United Kingdom at the age of three and later moved to Queens, New York, when he was eight years old. Young attended Hunter College High School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan (he was honored at the school's 2018 convocation). He went on to earn a degree in economics from the University of Southern California (USC). At USC, he met Michael Ross and Matt Dike from the record company Delicious Vinyl. "Funky Cold Medina" is a song written by Young MC, Matt Dike and Delicious Vinyl, Michael Ross, and first performed by American rapper, actor and producer Tone Loc, Tone Lōc. It was the second single from Tone Lōc's debut album, ''Lōc-ed After Dark'' (1989). The single was released on March 18, 1989, and rose to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 the following month where it went platinum, selling over one million copies and becoming the second ever platinum-certified rap single (after "Wild Thing (Tone Lōc song), Wild Thing" from the Lōc-ed_After_Dark, same album being the first). "Wild Thing" is a single by American rapper Tone Lōc from his 1989 album '' Lōc-ed After Dark''. The title is a reference to the phrase "doin' the wild thing," a euphemism for sex. According to producer Mario Caldato Jr., who engineered and mixed the song, producer Michael Ross was inspired by an utterance of Fab 5 Freddy "Come on baby let's do the wild thing" in Spike Lee's '' She's Gotta Have It'', and asked Young MC to write the lyrics. "Wild Thing" peaked at number two on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in February 1989 and reached number one in New Zealand for two weeks in April.
