South African National Defence Force
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) comprises the armed forces of South Africa. The commander of the SANDF is appointed by the President of South Africa from one of the armed services. Diocesan College
The Diocesan College (commonly known as Bishops) is a private, English medium, boarding and day high school for boys situated in the suburb of Rondebosch in Cape Town in the Western Cape province of South Africa. The school was established on 2 October 1849 by the Bishop of Cape Town. History The college was founded by Robert Gray, the first Anglican bishop of Cape Town. Robert Gray along with his wife Sophy Gray, founded a number of other schools including the sister school, St. Cyprian's School, Cape Town. The school's scholarship system was proposed by Lewis Michell, a South African banker, who wanted to represent the British culture in the country and create Anglican church schools based on the English public school system. The Chief of Corporate Staff (CCS) is a lieutenant general post in the South African National Defence Force Role The post of Chief of Corporate Staff was created in 2000. The post was first occupied by V Adm H.J.M. Trainor in late 2000. Chief of Corporate Staff reports to the Chief of the Defence Force and has equal standing as the arms of services. The restructuring after the Defence Review of 1998 paved way for changes in the SANDF, among others being the closing down of the ''Personnel Division'' and its functions were transferred to the ''Joint Support Division''. Lieutenant General Themba Matanzima is a former South African Army officer, serving as Military Ombudsman. He was born on 2 February 1953 in Cofimvaba. He joined the Transkei Defence Force in January 1977. Army career Matanzima transferred to the South African National Defence Force on integration in 1994. After a period on the Joint Military Coordinating Committee that oversaw the integration process, he then became General Officer Commanding Eastern Province Command in 1996. Vice Admiral Refiloe Mudimu is a former South African military commander, who served as the Chief of the Navy before his retirement in 2014. Early life Johannes Mudimu was born on 6 March 1954, in Sophiatown. He became a member of the African National Congress and Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) in 1975. Early career Mudimu received his military training in Angola, East Germany and the then USSR. He successfully completed the commander's course in 1977. He then served as an instructor in MK camps until 1979 when he was deployed as Chief of Logistics in Luanda, Angola. Mudimu later served in ANC Headquarters in Lusaka, Zambia as the co-ordinator of the ANC Youth Radio Programs as well as a member of the editorial board of the Youth Publications.
