Martine Bedin
Martine Bedin is a French architect and designer. She was a member of the Memphis Group. Biography Bedin was born in 1957 in the port of Bordeaux where she knew Nathalie Du Pasquier who would be a fellow designer. She learnt about architecture in Paris. She was awarded a scholarship in 1978 and as a result she went to live in Florence. She discovered modern architecture there with Adolfo Natalini and the Superstudio group. In 1979, Natalini invited her to Milan, when she met the designer Michele De Lucchi and the architect Ettore Sottsass. Also in 1979, her Casa Decorata was displayed at the Milan Triennial XVI. She worked with Sottsass who was based in Milan. In December 1980, Bedin was a co-founder of the Memphis-Milano Group when the Italian postmodern design collective was formed during a gathering at Barbara Radice's home in Milan. CAPC musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux, formerly the Centre d'arts plastiques contemporains (CAPC), is a museum of modern art established in 1973 in Bordeaux, France. Building The museum is housed in the ''Entrepôt Lainé'', a former warehouse for colonial goods (sugar, coffee, cocoa, cotton, spices and oils) which were then re-exported to northern Europe by Bordeaux merchants. The warehouse was built in 1824 by the architect Claude Deschamps, known for the construction of the ''Pont de pierre'' of Bordeaux. It is built of brick, stone and wood in a style inspired by italian architecture. There are two grand naves that are reminiscent of the Roman basilicas and that are used to present temporary exhibitions. The Hôtel de Sully is a Louis XIII style '' hôtel particulier'', or private mansion, located at 62 rue Saint-Antoine in the Marais, IV arrondissement, Paris, France. The Palace of Tau (french: Palais du Tau) in Reims, France, was the palace of the Archbishop of Reims. It is associated with the kings of France, whose coronation was held in the nearby cathedral of Notre-Dame de Reims and the following coronation banquet in the palace itself.
