Flux Of Pink Indians
Flux of Pink Indians was an English punk rock band from Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire, active between 1980 and 1986. Biography The band formed in Hertfordshire, England in 1980 from the remaining members of The Epileptics (who during the first half of 1979 changed their name to ''Epi-X'', owing to letters of complaint from The British Epilepsy Association) by Colsk Latter (vocals) and Derek Birkett (bass guitar) with guitarists Andy Smith, Neil Puncher, and drummer Sid Ation (who was also a member of Rubella Ballet). The group signed with the Crass Records label in 1981. Their debut Extended play, EP ''Neu Smell'' was released on Crass in 1981; it featured indie hit "Tube Disaster". Flux of Pink Indians continued in 1982 with the album ''Strive to Survive Causing Least Suffering Possible'' released on their own label, Spiderleg. They released a second album in 1983, ''The Fucking Cunts Treat Us Like Pricks''; this was banned by many British retailers, and copies were seiz ... Martin Wilson is a visual artist, based in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. Early life and education Martin Wilson graduated from the National Art School in Sydney in 1994. Art practice Wilson works primarily in painting and textile media. Among his most prominent works is ''The Fuzzy Prime Ministers'' – a series of latch-hook rug portraits of each Prime Minister of Australia. The series was created to mark Australia's Centenary of Federation in 2001 and was exhibited at Object Gallery in Sydney during the Sydney Festival, the National Portrait Gallery (Australia) in Canberra and regional art galleries throughout Australia. Following his election in November 2007, a portrait of Kevin Rudd – the 26th in the series – was first shown at the Flinders Street Gallery in Sydney. AACTA Award For Best Indie Film
The AACTA Award for Best Indie Film is an award presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) since 2018. The award is presented at the annual AACTA Awards, which hand out accolades for achievements in feature film, television, documentaries and short films. Since 2024 the awards have been held at the Gold Coast, Queensland. History The establishment of the AACTA Award for Best Indie Film was announced on 1 May 2018. The inaugural award was won by ''Jirga'', directed by Benjamin Gilmour. Eligibility The intention of the award is to allow "a pathway into competition for a greater number of films from filmmakers with diverse backgrounds (gender, sexual and cultural diversity), as well as films from emerging filmmakers". Martin Wilson (environmentalist)
Martin James Wilson (1 August 1959 – 11 August 2022) was an environmentalist and community leader from Wellington, New Zealand. In the 1980s he initiated and ran several Cuba Street Carnivals, started the Birdman competitions on the Wellington waterfront and initiated festivals and craft markets though several suburbs over decades. He raised awareness of food waste via setting up and running guerrilla gardening composting in his local suburb of Aro Valley. Early years Wilson's parents were Diana Wilson and architect Derek Wilson. His father published two environmental and anti-nuclear books. Wilson was the youngest of three boys, and was born in Wellington, New Zealand. He went to high school at the liberal Onslow College then to study several disciplines from anthropology to politics, development studies to international relations, psychology to geography, environment studies to public policy, economics and commercial law at Victoria University.
