Martin Strandli
Martin Strandli (28 January 1890 – 14 January 1973) was a Norwegian trade unionist and politician for the Labour and Communist parties. He was born in Stange. He joined his first trade union in 1913, and worked as a construction worker in Kristiania. He was a board member of the Labour Party in Kristiania. In February 1923 he was elected to the Labour Party central board, as the only pro-Comintern member together with Kristian Kristensen. When the pro-Comintern faction broke away to create the Communist Party, he joined them, but eventually returned to Labour. From 1933 to 1937 and 1945 to 1946 he was a treasurer in the Norwegian Union of Building Industry Workers, and from 1934 he was a member of the secretariat of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions. He was a co-founder of Oslo Bygge- og Sparelag (OBOS) in 1929, and was the chairman from 1937 to 1942. He was then arrested as a part of the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany. Mysen
Mysen is the administrative center of the municipality of Eidsberg in the county of Østfold in Norway. The town is named after the old farm of Mysen (Norse ''Mysin'', from ''*Mosvin''), since the town is built on its ground. The first element is ''mosi'' m 'bog, marsh', the last element is '' vin '' m 'meadow, pasture'. The town's history Between 1920 and 1961, it was a separate municipality. Mysen became an independent municipality on 1 July 1920 when it was spun off from Eidsberg. On 1 January 1961 Mysen was merged again with Eidsberg. As with many other places in Eastern Norway Mysen has grown up around a railway station, after Østfold Line's Eastern Line opened in 1882. Today the station is an end stop for most local trains on the eastern line. Gunnar Bråthen
Gunnar Bråthen (7 October 1896 – 7 June 1980) was a Norwegian trade unionist and politician for the Labour Party. He was Minister of Pay and Prices from 1955 to 1959. He was born in Hole as a son of a baker. He was a member of Kristiania city council from 1922 to 1925. He was a board member of the Norwegian Union of Iron and Metalworkers during the same period, and then a secretary from 1925 to 1931. After seven years in ''Hedmark faglige samorganisasjon'' he was a secretary in the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions in Northern Norway from 1938 to 1941, and nationwide from 1945 to 1950. Between 1941 and 1945 he was a member of the Norwegian resistance movement. He was first arrested on 1 July 1941, and was imprisoned in Grini concentration camp from February 1942 to January 1943. Gunvald Engelstad
Gunvald Engelstad (10 May 1900 – 18 September 1972) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Øksendal. After working on a farm from 1915 to 1916, he took a smith's education from 1917 to 1920. He worked as a smith from 1920; at Follafoss Tresliperi from 1925. He was involved in the local trade unions, and was active in politics. He was a member of Verran municipal council from 1925 to 1928, chaired the local party chapter from 1931 to 1934 and later served as mayor from 1934. He was also a member of the local school board, the forestry board and various committees. He lost all his positions following the Nazi German invasion of Norway in 1940, only returning as mayor for some months in 1945.
