Martin Hayes (hurler)
Martin Hayes (1 September 1890 - 27 September 1967) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-back for the Dublin senior team. Hayes joined the team during the 1917 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1928 championship. Faughs GAA Club () is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) hurling and camogie club in Templeogue, Dublin, Ireland. They have won 31 titles. History Faughs GAA Club was founded in Easter 1885 in the Phoenix Park in Dublin. Its inaugural meeting was held at 4 Gardiner's Row, home of Michael Cusack. The club name, Faughs, is derived from the Irish language slogan, , anglicized as Faugh A Ballagh, meaning "clear the way". When the Dublin County Board was formed in 1886, Larry O'Toole was on the committee. At this time the Faughs colours were amber and black, and the club played both hurling and football. The Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Dublin GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Dublin and the Dublin county teams. The 1917 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 31st staging of the All-Ireland hurling championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The Leinster GAA Hurling Senior Championship, known simply as the Leinster Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Dublin Senior Hurling Championship
The Dublin Senior Hurling Championship () is an annual hurling competition organised by the Dublin County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) since 1887 for the top hurling clubs in County Dublin, Ireland. Sixteen clubs compete. Initially the teams are divided into four groups of four with the group matches being played from April to May with a break to accommodate the All-Ireland Championship and resume during August or September. The group stage is followed by a knock-out phase which takes place during the months of October and November. Sponsored by Go-Ahead, it is therefore officially known as the Go-Ahead Dublin Senior Hurling Championship.
