Martha Bartlett
Barbara Martha Bartlett is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, she has been serving as a permanent delegate to the National Council of Provinces since June 2020. From May 2014 to June 2020, Bartlett was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and a Member of the Executive Council in the provincial government. Provincial government Bartlett was elected to the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. She was sworn in as a member of the provincial legislature on 21 May 2014. On 30 May 2014, premier Sylvia Lucas appointed Bartlett as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Transport, Safety and Liaison. She took office on the same day and succeeded Mac Jack. The African National Congress (ANC) is a political party in South Africa. Northern Cape Provincial Legislature
The Northern Cape Provincial Legislature is the legislature of the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is a unicameral body of 30 members elected every five years. The current legislature was elected on 29 May 2024 with the African National Congress getting the most seats (15 members). The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) is the upper house of the Parliament of South Africa under the post-apartheid constitution of South Africa, constitution which came into full effect in 1997. It replaced the former Senate of South Africa#1994–1997, Senate, but is very similar to that body, and to many other upper houses of legislatures throughout the world, in that its purpose is to represent the governments of the provinces of South Africa, provinces, rather than directly representing the people.
