Marte Mapu
Marte-Myles Mapu (born November 8, 1999) is an American professional football safety for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Sacramento State, where he was named the Big Sky Conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. Early life Mapu was born on November 8, 1999, in Hawthorne, California. He attended Hawthorne High School, where he played quarterback and wide receiver on the football team. Mapu is of American Samoan descent. College career Mapu redshirted his true freshman season for the Sacramento State Hornets. Mapu's redshirt junior season in 2020 was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a redshirt senior, he was named second team All-Big Sky Conference. Safety is a position in gridiron football on the defense. The safeties are defensive backs who line up ten to fifteen yards from the line of scrimmage. There are two variations of the position: the free safety and the strong safety. Their duties depend on the defensive scheme. Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (born September 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). The son of former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Pat Mahomes, he initially played college football and baseball at Texas Tech. Following his sophomore year, he quit baseball to focus solely on football. In his junior year, he led all NCAA Division I FBS players in multiple categories including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53). He was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. Mahomes spent his rookie season as the backup to Alex Smith.
