Marta Golden
Lillian Marta Golden (about 1880 – January 2, 1940) was an American stage and film actress, writer, and vaudeville performer, associated with the films of Charlie Chaplin. Career Film Golden made her film debut in the 1915 Charlie Chaplin-directed short ''Work''. She appeared in approximately seven motion pictures, often in comedies directed and starring Chaplin. She recalled injuries while performing film stunts involving roller skates attached to her back, a head injury from a prop gun, underwater scrapes, cheese in her eyes, and hairpulling. Her last appearance in a motion picture was in the 1928 Edwin Carewe-directed drama ''Revenge'', starring Dolores del Río. Stage Golden co-starred in a play in San Francisco in 1910. She co-led the Golden-Raynes musical comedy company with her first husband, J. A. Raynes; the troupe included Roscoe Arbuckle and Lon Chaney. Venice High School (Los Angeles)
Venice High School (VHS) is a public school located in the Westside area of Los Angeles, California and within the Local District West area of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). History The school was established in 1911 (then called "Venice Union Polytechnic High School") when classes were held in an old lagoon bathhouse two blocks from the beach. It moved to a new neo-romanesque structure at its present 29-acre campus two miles inland a decade later. A famous statue, installed in 1922 and for which then-unknown Venice High School student Myrna Loy served as model, stood on the front lawn of Venice High School for over 70 years. An unsightly cage was erected to prevent vandalism, but the statue was ultimately removed and sent to indoor storage in 1998. ''The Adventurer'' is an American short comedy film made in 1917 written and directed by Charlie Chaplin, and is the last of the twelve films made under contract for the Mutual Film Corporation. Plot The police are hunting for an escaped convict (Charlie Chaplin) who has cleverly eluded the guards so far. One officer ( Henry Bergman) is told to guard the beach in case he comes within sight again. However, unbeknownst to the officer, Charlie is actually buried under sand next to him. Fully aware of the danger, he is very cautious regarding his escape. He unburies himself very cautiously, however, Bergman is asleep, and he falls back on the hole which Charlie created while un-burying himself. Of course, Charlie makes a run, but it is too late. The officer fires, missing Charlie by an inch. Charlie hurriedly climbs up a vertical wall of mud and stone, and the officer chases after him. ''A Woman'' was Charlie Chaplin's ninth film for Essanay Studios, Essanay Films. It was made in Los Angeles at the Majestic Studio and released in 1915 in film, 1915. Plot A well-to-do family of three is asleep on a park bench. The father (Charles Insley) is awakened when a pretty girl (Margie Reiger) trips over his outstretched feet. The father is an incorrigible womanizer and immediately follows the girl to another park bench while his wife (Marta Golden) and adult daughter (Edna Purviance) remain asleep. He briefly departs to buy himself and the girl drinks from a refreshment stand. As soon as he leaves, Charlie arrives at the park bench where the pretty girl is seated.
