Mart Lepp
Mart Lepp (born December 28, 1947) is an Estonian art collector and the owner of the largest art collection in Estonia. His art collection includes nearly 25,000 works. Much of his art collection was assembled through inexpensive purchases or for free, as gifts from artists or their relatives. Early life Mart Lepp was born in Tallinn in 1947. He graduated from Tallinn Evening High School No. 10 (now ) in 1969. Collection His art collection, which initially included 300 works—mainly etchings by Western European and Russian painters of the 19th century, as well as paintings, sculptures, and graphics by Estonian artists (August Weizenberg, Kristjan Raud, Eduard Wiiralt, Paul Burman, Aleksander Vardi, and )—was founded by his mother Selma Lepp (1911–1977). Tallinn
Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Olav Maran
Olav Maran (born 20 October 1933 in Tartu) is an Estonian artist. Life Maran was a second child of Elfriide Maran, who later become a sculptor, and a police constable Alfred Maran. In the year 1938 Elfriide Maran moved to Tallinn with her two children, there Olav Maran started a Secondary School at Tallinna 10. keskkool, where he graduated from in 1953. After that he began his studies at the Estonian Academy of Arts of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. Maran studied together with , , and , who later become his wife. In 1959 Maran received a master's degree in graphic arts. From 1959 to 1965, he worked as designer and caricaturist for the journal ''Pikker''. Eduard Ole
Eduard Ole (20 May 1898 – 24 November 1995) was an Estonian painter. Some of his most representative works are on permanent exhibition at the Kumu Art Museum of Estonia. In 1973, Ole published in Sweden his two-volume illustrated memoirs ' ("On the Big Highway") I and II. A new edition of these books were published in Estonia in 2010. Expressionism, Cubism Ole was the seventh child in a farmer's family with eight children. Very young, Ole came in contact with modern western art by means of reproductions in the art school library and by visiting galleries and museums in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia between 1914 and 1918, where he became particularly influenced by German Expressionism. Valdur Ohakas
Valdur-Olev Ohakas (December 26, 1925 – February 16, 1998) was an Estonian painter. Early life and education Valdur Ohakas was born in Tallinn, Estonia, the son of Johannes Ohakas (1900–1979) and Agathe Elise Ohakas (née Kirnmann, 1903–1997). The artist Raoul Kernumees was his maternal uncle. He attended Tallinn Primary School No. 21, Tallinn Middle School No. 2, Tallinn Trade School, and Tallinn Evening Technical School. From 1942 to 1943, he studied at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts under Eerik Haamer and Johannes Greenberg. From 1943 to 1944, he was mobilized into the German army. From 1944 to 1948, he studied at the Tartu State Art Institute under Johannes Võerahansu and Elmar Kits, but he did not graduate from the school because in 1949 he was arrested with a group of art students and sent to the Vorkuta Gulag in the Karaganda Region of the Kazakh SSR. Jüri Arrak
Jüri Arrak (24 October 1936 – 16 October 2022) was an Estonian painter, whose works with distinguished and recognizable style have won acclaim around the world. Arrak was born in Tallinn on 24 October 1936, and graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute. He was a member of the Estonian Artists' Association and a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts.
