Marshmallow Fluff
Marshmallow creme (also called marshmallow fluff, marshmallow stuff, marshmallow spread, marshmallow paste, or simply fluff) is a marshmallow confectionery spread similar in flavor, but not texture, to regular solid marshmallow. One brand of marshmallow creme is Marshmallow Fluff, which is used to make the fluffernutter sandwich, a New England classic comfort food which debuted in 1918 in Massachusetts, just a year after marshmallow creme was invented. The earliest mention of marshmallow creme in an American cookbook is from ''Fannie Farmer's Boston School Cook Book'', printed in 1896. Archibald Query (1873–1964) was a Canadian-born American confectioner, who invented Marshmallow Fluff, a special formula of marshmallow cream, in 1917. Biography Query developed the recipe in his kitchen, initially selling his marshmallow fluff door-to-door. This plant has many common names, including common soapwort, bouncing-bet, crow soap, wild sweet William, and soapweed. There are about 20 species of soapworts altogether. Jet-Puffed Marshmallows is an American brand of marshmallow and marshmallow related products, manufactured by Kraft Foods and first introduced in 1958. Some notable products include Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Cream and various novelty shaped marshmallows, such as heart, flower, bunny, and star marshmallows. History Prior to the early-1950s, marshmallows were usually either bars or small squares, rather than the modern cylindrical extruded shapes.
