Marrakai
__NOTOC__ Marrakai is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about east of the territorial capital of Darwin. The locality consists of land bounded in part to the west by the Adelaide River, in part to the north by the coastline of Van Diemen Gulf and in part to the east by the Mary River. The locality was named after the Marrakai pastoral station whose name is considered to be an amalgamation of a local Aboriginal word "kie", meaning river, and a corruption of the English word "Mary", usually used as a woman's first name. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Marrakai is located within the federal division of Lingiari, the territory electoral division of Goyder and the unincorporated areas of the Northern Territory. Hotham, Northern Territory

The locality consists of land bounded to the west by the Adelaide River and to the north by the coastline of Van Diemen Gulf which includes the headland, Cape Hotham. The locality was named after Cape Hotham which itself was named by Phillip Parker King in 1818 after the Royal Navy officer, Rear Admiral Sir Henry Hotham. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. The locality includes part of the Djukbinj National Park. Hotham includes the site of the first attempt by the Government of South Australia to create a settlement in the Northern Territory in 1864, which was listed on the Northern Territory Heritage Register on 12 January 2000 under the name of Escape Cliffs. The Adelaide River is a river in the Northern Territory of Australia. Course and features The river rises in the Litchfield National Park and flows generally northwards to Clarence Strait, joined by eight tributaries including the west branch of the Adelaide River, Coomalie Creek, Margaret River and Marrakai Creek, before discharging into its mouth in Adam Bay in the Clarence Strait. The Division of Lingiari is an Australian electoral division in the Northern Territory that covers the entirety of the territory outside of the Division of Solomon, which covers Darwin and surrounding areas. The division also includes the Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Islands. Lingiari includes all of the Northern Territory's remote Indigenous communities, most of whom vote when visited by mobile polling teams during the election campaign.
