Marondera East
Marondera East is a Electoral district, constituency represented in the National Assembly of Zimbabwe, National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Marondera District in Mashonaland East Province. Its current MP since the 2023 Zimbabwean general election, 2023 general election is Vimbayi Mutokonyi of ZANU–PF. History In the 2005 Zimbabwean parliamentary election, March 2005 parliamentary election, the candidate of ZANU–PF, Sydney Sekeramayi, was declared the winner. This outcome was disputed. In the 2018 Zimbabwean general election, 2018 election, Patrick Chidakwa of ZANU–PF was elected to represent the constituency. Chidakwa died on 11 September 2020, and was replaced by Jeremiah Chiwetu, also of ZANU–PF, following a 2022 Zimbabwean by-elections, 26 March 2022 by-election. National Assembly Of Zimbabwe
The National Assembly of Zimbabwe, previously the House of Assembly until 2013, is the lower house of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, Parliament of Zimbabwe. It was established upon Zimbabwe's History of Zimbabwe#Independence and the 1980s, independence in 1980 as one of Bicameralism, two chambers of parliament. 2018 Zimbabwean General Election
General elections were held in Zimbabwe on 30 July 2018 to elect the President of Zimbabwe, President and members of both houses of Parliament of Zimbabwe, Parliament. Movement For Democratic Change Alliance
The Movement for Democratic Change Alliance is an electoral coalition of seven political parties formed to contest Zimbabwe's 2018 general election. After the 2018 election, a dispute arose over the use of the name MDC Alliance leading the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa to found the Citizens Coalition for Change. History Three of the member parties were splinters from the original Movement for Democratic Change and each other. The bloc was formed to contest the 2018 election. The MDC Alliance was led by Nelson Chamisa who replaced Morgan Tsvangirai as President of the MDC-T after Tsvangirai died on the 14 February 2018 after a long fight against colon cancer. Citizens Coalition For Change
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is a Zimbabwean political party. It was established by former members of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance. Background Nelson Chamisa formed Citizens Coalition for Change after losing the squabbles over party name "MDC Alliance". The president of the CCC party presented yellow as the new color and raising the index finger as the new symbol. CCC has no constitution. A way to avoid being bound by its supremacy as it was in MDC. After forming the party, most MDC Alliance MPs and councilors who showed allegiance to Chamisa were recalled from parliament by Douglas Mwonzora, who took over MDC Alliance. This, together with some deaths of officials, called for by-elections in 28 seats which were conducted on 26 March 2022 in which the newly formed CCC won 19 and ZANU–PF won 9. 2013 Zimbabwean General Election
General elections were held in Zimbabwe on 31 July 2013. Incumbent President Robert Mugabe was re-elected, whilst his ZANU–PF party won a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly. The elections were not free and fair, as the ruling ZANU–PF party used the state to intimidate the opposition. Background This was the first election held under the new constitution approved in a referendum in March 2013 and signed into law by President Robert Mugabe on 22 May. The Supreme Court ruled on 31 May that President Mugabe should set a date as soon as possible, and that presidential and parliamentary elections must be held by 31 July. 2000 Zimbabwean Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Zimbabwe on 24 and 25 June 2000 to elect members of the House of Assembly. The electoral system involved 120 constituencies returning one member each, elected by the first-past-the-post system, with the president nominating 20 members and ten tribal chiefs sitting ''ex officio''. This was the first national election in which Zimbabwe's ruling ZANU–PF party had faced any real opposition since the 1980s, with the newly formed Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) challenging their control of parliament. Sydney Tigere Sekeramayi (born 30 March 1944) is a Zimbabwean politician who served in the government of Zimbabwe as Minister of Defence between 2013 and 2017. He has been a minister in the Cabinet since independence in 1980, serving as Minister of Defence from 2001 to 2009 and Minister of State Security from 2009 to 2013. Provinces Of Zimbabwe
Provinces are constituent Polity, political entities of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe currently has ten provinces, two of which are City, cities with provincial status. Zimbabwe is a unitary state, and its provinces exercise only the powers that the central government chooses to delegate. Provinces are divided into Districts of Zimbabwe, districts, which are divided into Ward (electoral subdivision), wards. The Constitution of Zimbabwe delineates provincial governance and powers. After constitutional amendments in 1988, provinces were administered by a List of current provincial governors of Zimbabwe, governor directly appointed by the President of Zimbabwe.
