Marondera Central
Marondera Central is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, covering much of Marondera, Mashonaland East Province. It was created in 2008 from territory taken from the Marondera East and Marondera West constituencies. Its current MP since the 2018 general election is Caston Matewu of the Citizens Coalition for Change. History Marondera Central was created for the 2008 Zimbabwean general election, with territory taken from the Marondera East and Marondera West constituencies. In 2008, Iain Kay of the Movement for Democratic Change – Tsvangirai won the constituency. In 2013, Ray Kaukonde of ZANU–PF was elected. After Kaukonde was expelled from Parliament, the constituency was won by Lawrence Katsiru in a by-election. National Assembly Of Zimbabwe
The National Assembly of Zimbabwe, previously the House of Assembly until 2013, is the lower house of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. It was established upon Zimbabwe's independence in 1980 as one of two chambers of parliament. Between the abolition of the Senate in 1989 and its reestablishment in 2005, the House of Assembly was the sole chamber of parliament. Since the 2013 election, the National Assembly has had 270 members. Of these, 210 are elected in single-member constituencies. The last 60 seats are reserved for women, and are elected by proportional representation in 10 six-seat constituencies based on the country's provinces. On election day, each voter casts a single ballot, and this is used to assign seats to the parties for both types of seat. Cleopas (Greek Κλεόπας, ''Kleopas''), also spelled Cleophas, was a figure of early Christianity, one of the two disciples who encountered Jesus during the Road to Emmaus appearance in . General elections were held in Zimbabwe on 31 July 2013. Incumbent President Robert Mugabe was re-elected, whilst his ZANU–PF party won a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly of Zimbabwe, National Assembly. Background This was the first election held under the Constitution of Zimbabwe, new constitution approved in 2013 Zimbabwean constitutional referendum, a referendum in March 2013 and signed into law by President Robert Mugabe on 22 May. 2023 Zimbabwean General Election
General elections were held throughout Zimbabwe on 23 and 24 August 2023 to elect the president, legislators and councillors. The main race for presidential office was between two candidates of Karanga origin: ZANU–PF's Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa and Citizens Coalition for Change's Nelson Chamisa. The voter rolls for the election increased to 6.5 million, up from 5.8 million in 2018. The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission spoke about the delays citing that they would compensate for the delays meaning if the polling station was opened at 11am, it would close at 11pm to ensure that there is 12 hours of voting. There were some reports from the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation that about 5 wards in Manicaland people did not manage to vote at all because of logistical difficulties which were faced by the ZEC.
