Marlene McDonald (1959 – 8 December 2023) was a Trinidad and Tobago politician from the People's National Movement (PNM). Early life She attended Nelson Street Girls' RC Primary School and St François Girls' College. She later studied law at the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill. Career McDonald was first elected to the House of Representatives as member for Port of Spain South in the 2007 Trinidad and Tobago general election. She was appointed Minister of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs. When her party was returned to Opposition in 2010, she took the parliamentary role of opposition Chief Whip. When the party returned to power in 2015, McDonald was made housing minister. She held the position she held until March 2016. Marlene Gerson (born June 1940) is a female former tennis player from South Africa who was active in the late 1950s and the first half of the 1960s. Her best singles result at the Wimbledon Championships was reaching the third round in 1959. Partnering Australian Eva Duldig, she reached the quarterfinal of the doubles event in 1961. At the 1961 Maccabiah Games in Israel, she won gold medals in women's doubles and mixed doubles. Career In 1962 Gerson won the All England Plate, a competition held at the Wimbledon Championships consisting of players who were defeated in the first or second rounds of the singles competition. Marlene Elejarde Díaz (also spelled Elejalde, June 3, 1951 – April 29, 1989) was a sprinter from Cuba. She was born in Havana. Marlene Ahrens Ostertag-Ebensperger (July 27, 1933 – June 17, 2020) was a Chilean athlete. She won the silver medal in Javelin throw at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne with a distance of 50.38 metres. She was the mother of journalist Karin Ebensperger. Biography Ahrens was born in Concepción, Chile, the daughter of German immigrants. In Melbourne, she was the Chilean flag bearer, and the only woman on the Olympic team. She participated in the Javelin throw, winning the silver medal with a distance of 50.38 metres. In doing so, she became the first Chilean woman to win an Olympic medal. Marlene Zuk (born May 20, 1956) is an American evolutionary biologist and behavioral ecologist. She worked as professor of biology at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) until she transferred to the University of Minnesota in 2012. Her studies involve sexual selection and parasites.
