Marlen Reusser
Marlen Reusser (born 20 September 1991) is a Swiss racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career She took up competitive cycling whilst at university, riding in the cycling legs of mixed relay triathlons as an amateur. She entered the road events of the Swiss national cycling championships in 2017, a few months after receiving a racing licence and whilst in the final year of studies for a degree in medicine: she won the time trial and was runner up in the road race. Her success earned her selection for that year's European Road Championships. She also rode in the women's time trial event at the 2017 UCI Road World Championships. In 2019 Reusser took up a place at the World Cycling Centre in Aigle, deciding to ride full-time. During her year with the WCC she finished third at the BeNe Ladies Tour and sixth in the World Championship individual time trial. The following year she took a top 10 finish at Liège–Bastogne–Liège. The 2021 European Road Cycling Championships was the 27th running of the European Road Cycling Championships, that took place from 8 to 12 September 2021 in Trentino, Italy. The event consisted of a total of 6 road races and 7 time trials. Location On 10 June 2019 it was announced that, Trentino would host the event from 9 to 13 September 2020, however due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was postponed to 2021, and in its place the 2020 events were instead hosted by Plouay in France. The Women's time trial of the 2020 UCI Road World Championships was a cycling event that took place on 24 September 2020 in Imola, Italy. Chloé Dygert was the defending champion. The race was won by Anna van der Breggen of the Netherlands, with Marlen Reusser finishing second, and Ellen van Dijk finishing third. The 2020 UCI Road World Championships is the 93rd edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. It took place between 24 and 27 September 2020 in Imola, Italy. The event was originally planned to be held in the Aigle and Martigny area in Switzerland, but this was cancelled on 12 August in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Cycling At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Women's Road Time Trial
The women's road time trial event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 28 July 2021 around the Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture. 25 cyclists from 20 nations competed in the event. The race was won by Annemiek van Vleuten of Netherlands, her second Olympic medal at these Games. Van Vleuten set the fastest times at both intermediate time checks before setting the only time under 31 minutes. She won by 56 seconds over the silver medalist, Marlen Reusser of Switzerland. Reusser set the fourth and fifth fastest times at the first two time checks, respectively. Her final split allowed her to move into second, becoming the only rider within a minute of van Vleuten's time.
