Marko Matvere
Marko Matvere (born 4 February 1968) is an Estonian actor and singer. He was the lead actor of the Tallinn City Theatre, but left to become a freelance actor in 2004. Biography Matvere was born in Pärnu and graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory (now the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre) in 1990. He is married to Tiina Matvere and they have a daughter, Matilde, and a son, Oskar. Matvere has performed in many musicals, including ''Les Misérables'', ''Tanz der Vampire'', ''The Sound of Music'', and ''Miss Saigon''. He has performed the main role in several films (''"Georg'') and television series. He hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 with Annely Peebo. He has also hosted the TV show ''Songs with Stars'' with Karin Rask. He has been a member of the music group "Väikeste lõõtspillide ühing" ("Association of Little Accordions") since 1989 and released two albums with Jaan Tätte. Pärnu () is the fourth largest city in Estonia. Situated in southwest Estonia, Pärnu is located south of the Estonian capital, Tallinn, and west of Estonia's second largest city, Tartu. M-klubi was a restaurant and private club located at the basement of the Hotel Marski on Mannerheimintie in Helsinki, Finland, from 1962 up to the 1980s. The restaurant could seat 225 people. ''Melchior the Apothecary'' ( et, Apteeker Melchior) is a 2022 Estonian historical mystery film. It is the first instalment of the Melchior trilogy, based on the novels by Indrek Hargla. The film focuses on apothecary Melchior Wakenstede, who solves crimes in medieval Tallinn. The film is directed by Elmo Nüganen. Background The film was set to premiere in October 2021, but was delayed to April 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The second part of the trilogy is scheduled to be released in August, and the third in October, making it the first time in Estonia film history where an entire trilogy will premiere within a single calendar year. Georg Ots (21 March 1920 – 5 September 1975) was an Estonian singer, actor and People's Artist of the USSR (1960). Biography Before studying singing with the Estonian baritone Aleksander Rahnel in Yaroslavl in the rear of the Eastern Front, where a cultural center for evacuated Estonians had been established, Ots was a young Navy Officer who had escaped a sinking ship and was taken prisoner in Russia. He was released a year later, and on his return home, he auditioned for a place at the conservatory in Tallinn. At the same time, he became a member of the chorus at the Estonia Theatre in Tallinn.
