Markku Allan Alén (born 15 February 1951) is a Finland, Finnish former Rallying, rally and race car driver. He drove for Fiat, Lancia, Subaru World Rally Team, Subaru and Toyota Team Europe, Toyota in the World Rally Championship, and held the List of World Rally Championship records, record for most stage wins (801) in the series, until Sébastien Loeb overtook it at the 2011 Rally Catalunya. Alén's phrase "now maximum attack" became well known. Alén never won the world championship itself, despite being for a long time the driver with the most wins to his credit. Markku Uusipaavalniemi (born 23 November 1966) is a Finnish curler and former politician. Curling career Uusipaavalniemi was the skip of Team Finland for the first time in the mid-1990s. Most (but not all) of Finland's curling medals have been achieved with Uusipaavalniemi as skip. Uusipaavalniemi's team won the European Championships in 2000. He is also a two-time World Curling Championships bronze medalist (1998 and 2000) and two-time European Curling Championships bronze medalist (1999 and 2001). Markku Tuokko (24 June 1951 – 20 February 2015) was a Finnish discus thrower, shot putter and teacher. At the 1978 European Championships, Tuokko won the silver medal in discus with a result of 64.90 metres. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, he finished ninth. In Montreal 1976 he didn't make it past the qualifying round. At the 1979 European Indoor Championships, he was fourth in shot put. He won the Finnish discus throw championship five times (1977 and 1979–1982). His personal best in discus throw was 68.12 metres, achieved in May 1979 in Fresno. Markku Aulis Taskinen (born 25 February 1952) is a Finnish former athlete. At the 1974 European Championships he won bronze medals in both the 800 metres and the 4 × 400 metres relay. He was European indoor champion at 800 metres in 1978. Career Taskinen was Finnish national under-19 champion at 800 m in 1970 and national under-21 champion at both 400 m and 800 m in 1971. He won his first national senior titles in 1973, winning both 400 m (47.9) and 800 m (1:50.0) at the Finnish championships. Markku Salminen (9 September 1946 – 6 January 2004) was a Finnish orienteering competitor. He received a silver medal in the ''relay event'' and finished 13th in the ''individual event'' at the 1968 World Orienteering Championships in Linköping. In 1970 he finished 4th with the Finnish relay team. In 1974 he finished 16th in the ''individual event'', and received a silver medal in the ''relay'' with the Finnish team. Markku Peltola (12 July 1956 – 31 December 2007) was a Finnish actor and musician. He was born and grew up in Helsinki. He was actively involved in founding and acting with the Telakka Theater in Tampere. Peltola is best known for starring opposite Kati Outinen in Aki Kaurismäki's Academy Award-nominated film from 2002 '' The Man Without a Past''. Markku Luolajan-Mikkola is a Finnish baroque cellist and viol player. Born in Helsinki, he studied cello with Arto Noras at the Sibelius Academy, where he received his diploma in 1983. Later, an interest in baroque music led him to summer courses with Laurence Dreyfus, and afterwards he went on to Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he studied viola da gamba with Wieland Kuijken and baroque cello with Jaap ter Linden, receiving postgraduate diplomas in viola da gamba and baroque cello in 1992. He is a founding member of the celebrated Phantasm viol quartet the Norwegian baroque ensemble Bergen Barokk and the Finnish Baroque Orchestra (being its artistic leader from 2009 to 2013).
