Mark Steiner (musician)
Mark Steiner (born 1970) is a Norwegian-American rock musician, guitarist, songwriter and producer. In 1997, through a classified ad in ''The Village Voice'', Steiner started a band called Piker Ryan's Folly. It gave its last performance in 2000 at CBGB, at an event intended to save a neighboring tenement building, 295 Bowery, from demolition. Afterwards Eric Wolter and Steiner started a new band called Kundera. In 2002, Steiner moved to Oslo, Norway. In 2006, he contributed a track to a tribute CD for Australian musician Rowland S. Howard. In 2007 he recorded songs in Paris and New York for a debut solo CD ''Fallen Birds''. In 2009, a second record "Broken" was released in a two-CD edition by Z-Man Records. Post-punk
Post-punk (originally called new musick) is a broad genre of music that emerged in late 1977 in the wake of punk rock. Post-punk musicians departed from punk's fundamental elements and raw simplicity, instead adopting a broader, more experimental approach that encompassed a variety of avant-garde sensibilities and non-rock influences. Inspired by punk's energy and do it yourself ethic but determined to break from rock cliches, artists experimented with styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, and dance music; the music production, production techniques of dub music, dub and disco; and ideas from art and politics, including critical theory, modernist art, Film, cinema and modernist literature, literature. Robert Burås
Robert Solli Burås (12 August 1975 – 12 July 2007) was a Norwegian musician and songwriter, best known as the guitarist for the rock band Madrugada. He was also the frontman and guitarist for the rock band My Midnight Creeps. Burås appeared on five studio albums with Madrugada and two releases with My Midnight Creeps. He is the winner of six Norwegian Spellemann Awards, five with Madrugada and one with My Midnight Creeps. Burås died on 12 July 2007 and was found in his apartment by a friend. After a ceremony in Sofienberg Church in Oslo, he was cremated. His ashes lie at Bjerkvik Cemetery in Nordland, Norway. In the summer of 2008, a memorial bench to commemorate Burås was unveiled in the Birkelunden park in Oslo. ''Run On'' were an American art rock band based in New York City, formed in 1993. The group originally consisted of Rick Brown, Sue Garner and Alan Licht. This line-up recorded the single ''Days Away'' and released it on Ajax in 1994. The Extended play, EP ''On/Off (Run On EP), On/Off'' was issued through Matador Records, Matador in 1995 and according to Licht a vast improvement over the band's previous effort. Newgarden was replaced by Katie Gentile after the release of Run On's debut album. Matador Records is an independent record label, with a roster of mainly indie rock, but also punk rock, experimental rock, alternative rock, and electronic acts. History Matador was created in 1989 by Chris Lombardi in his New York City apartment. Lombardi had brought the Austrian duo H.P. Zinker into Wharton Tiers’ Fun City studio to record Matador's first release, "...and there was light". Myke Hideous (born October 15, 1966) is an American gothic rock singer and songwriter from New Jersey. He is the founder and frontman of the gothic rock band The Empire Hideous, which was active throughout the 1990s and into the early 2000s. He also performed with The Bronx Casket Co., Spy Society 99, and the Misfits as a fill-in vocalist on their South American and European tours that took place from May to July in 1998. Hugo Justin Race (born 23 May 1963) is an Australian rock musician and record producer who had been based in Europe from 1989 to 2011. He was a member of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (1983–85), and The Wreckery (1984–89) with Nick Barker and Robin Casinader. As from October 2013 he was simultaneously a member of Hugo Race and the True Spirit, Hugo Race Fatalists, and Dirtmusic. True Spirit have released 12 albums. Ingrid Olava Brænd Eriksen (known as Ingrid Olava, born 18 March 1981) is a Norwegian singer, musician and actress, best known for her debut single "Only Just Begun" from 2007 and as a backup singer for Madrugada. After hearing her live performance, EMI Music Norway invited her to play in a studio, and later signed her.
