Mark Shearer
Mark S. Shearer (born August 11, 1962) is an American politician who served as a member of both chambers of the Iowa General Assembly Early life and education Born in Burlington, Iowa, Shearer was raised in Washington, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa, majoring in journalism, business marketing and music performance. Career Mark was a broadcast journalist and on-air talent in several Iowa markets. While a student at the University of Iowa, he was appointed manager for the student radio station KICR / KRUI, and served on the Board of Directors for the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Shearer was editor of ''The Columbus Gazette'' in Columbus Junction, Iowa for 20 years. A member of the Iowa Arts Council Board of Directors in the 1980s, he chaired the council from 1985 to 1988. The Iowa Senate is the upper house of the Iowa General Assembly, United States. There are 50 seats in the Iowa Senate, representing 50 single-member districts across the state of Iowa with populations of approximately 60,927 per constituency, .
